Alive Winter Newsletter 2023

Thank you for your support!
As 2023 comes to a close, I reflect on the many ways in which the community has come together in support of Alive. This year presented new challenges for Alive as we considered how to strengthen our organization and grow the many ways we serve families throughout Middle Tennessee. Through ups and downs, I have continued to be heartened by the support so many in our community – from volunteers preparing holiday meals for patients and visitors at the residence, to the songwriters and community members who support our annual Alive at the Bluebird series – have shown Alive.
We truly could not do what we do without you and after receiving such support, we wanted to take time this year to learn more about what our supporters value most from Alive. Through our community survey, we learned how connected so many are to our mission. We discovered that, out of all of Alive’s services, hospice and grief support services are how most people know and work with us. We also learned that most people have good experiences with Alive and recommend our services to family members or friends. We are honored to partner with our community to offer care and support during so many families’ times of need and look forward to continuing this important work for decades to come.
Today, our strong roots in the community have come full circle with Alive co-founders Dr. David and Lynn Barton joining our Board. They join Denise Alper and Susan Simons, who bring decades of experience leading nonprofits and boards in the Nashville and surrounding areas. We are grateful for their dedication and ongoing service to Alive.
As Middle Tennessee’s only nonprofit hospice, the ongoing support from our neighbors in Middle Tennessee and beyond make it possible for Alive to continue serving and growing.

Alive & The Bluebird 2024 Artist and Alive Family Member Brings a Beautiful Perspective
The artwork for Alive & The Bluebird 2024 comes from Alive family member and local artist, Hollie Roy. When Hollie was approached by Alive nurse Marc Vera with the idea of donating a custom piece to Alive’s biggest annual fundraising event, she jumped at the chance to give back to an organization she already felt deeply connected to.
