Become Part of Our Story
Alive took root more than 40 years ago in Middle Tennessee when a small group of local pioneers (now honored in the Health Care Hall of Fame) came together to establish the third hospice in the U.S. Today, we remain true to our local roots as an innovator and leader, helping our friends and neighbors in Middle Tennessee live well until the end.
We envision a world with time for final words to be spoken and wishes fulfilled, where the end is as sacred as the beginning, and no one has to die alone.
Together, we create it.

Supports: Non-profit services such as financial assistance to patients, grief counseling, and community education about end-of-life care.

Memorial Butterfly Release+
Our memorial butterfly release includes live music, crafts, and refreshments. Families and children love this community event that acknowledges loss while focusing on joy.
Butterflies symbolize our lasting love and the spiritual renewal of a new season. We’re honoring loved ones who are gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.

“Connection is desperately needed right now, and so is the support Alive provides to local families at the end of a life. Green Door Gourmet is proud to be able to help,” – Sylvia Ganier, farmer/owner and Alive supporter
“Alive has a rich history of providing personalized and compassionate end-of-life care. At Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, we consider Alive Hospice an important partner in our efforts to offer Middle Tennesseans continuity of care.” – Gordon Ferguson, President and CEO, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford
“Alive & The Bluebird has been a winter mainstay at The Bluebird for 28 years. It’s hard to describe how the month of January has become such a warm and heart-centric month for us at the club. Our staff, the audience and most significantly, the songwriters are all moved by the opportunity to participate in this community event and through it, support the work that Alive does. Many of them have had experiences with Alive; friends, family, colleagues – and they embrace this celebration as a way of giving back.” – Erika Wollam Nichols, GM, The Bluebird Cafe
