$10,000 Grant Helps Support Alive’s Pediatric Hospice

Alive is grateful to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation for a $10,000 grant in support of pediatric hospice patients and youth whose loved ones are receiving care. The funding will aid in the addition of a Child Life Specialist to support Alive’s pediatric hospice team by going into patient homes and in-patient units to help children and youth, both patients and close relatives, cope with the stress and uncertainty of serious illness, loss, and bereavement. This specialist would provide age-appropriate information to ease fears, help the child or youth process emotions, facilitate age-appropriate coping skills, and provide distractions to patients while procedures are taking place. Last year, we served 24 children and their families in our pediatric hospice practice.

About Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation

Founded in 2006, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 organization powered by Dunkin’ and the generosity of our franchisees, partners, employees and guests. Our mission is to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness.

We believe impact is felt most at the local level. Thanks to franchisees and brand employees who volunteer their time to identify the biggest needs in their communities; organize local fundraising and volunteer events; and conduct local grantmaking, we are able to maximize our impact for kids who need joy the most.
