Culture and Mourning: Jewish Traditions

Join us on 9/15 for a FREE community event as we launch our newest education program, Culture and Mourning, kicking off with Jewish traditions. This series explores how different cultures and faiths support the universal experiences of death and mourning. Refreshments will be served. Register below.

Family Retreat Registration is Open!

Alive’s Family Retreat on 10/8 is open to families with children under the age of 18. The day will include a variety of recreational activities, games, arts and crafts, woodworking, and memory making that will strengthen your family bond in the midst of grief. $50 registration fee per family, scholarships available for those in need. Grief Center Offerings in September

Finding Lost Words

Join us online on 9/3 and in-person at the Grief Center on 9/21 for this virtual writing workshop, helping participants cope with loss through self-expression. Guided by a facilitator, participants will engage in writing activities that culminate in creating a poem based on a provided prompt. Register below.

Therapy for Complex Grief

Join us 9/5 and every first Monday. This group is for adults experiencing distressing memories and triggers that complicate bereavement and utilizes the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP). Pre-screening required.

Community Drum Circle

Free and fun for all ages! Join us 9/10 as we express ourselves through music. Located outdoors, we will build community through rhythm and shared experience. We provide the drums. Register below.

10 Essentials Grief Hike

Join us 9/24 for this community hike for adults (18+) who have experienced the death of someone significant. During the hike, you’ll be introduced to the “Ten Essentials,” created by Alive’s Grief Counselor, Dianne Castellano, which draws connections between tools hikers typically use to be prepared and tools that assist with a healthy grief process. Register below.

Youth Grief Support Groups!

Join us Tuesdays, Sept. 20 – Nov. 8 at 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. for grief support groups for youth ages 3-17 at the Alive Nashville Grief Center (1721 Patterson St. in Nashville). Dinner included! Youth will express their thoughts and feelings with others who have also experienced the death of an important person. Sessions include grief education, games, and more.

Eight-Week Grief Journey Groups Forming Now!

Grief Journey groups launch on 9/29 and meet for eight consecutive Thursdays at 1:00-2:30 p.m. or 6:00-7:30m p.m. In-person and virtual options are available.
Groups include:

  • Groups for Loss of Spouse/Partner
  • Loss of a Loved One

There is an $80 registration fee per participant; scholarships are available. To register, call 615-963-4732 or email griefsupport@alivehospice.org.

Walking Through Grief

Grief is anything but a walk in the park. Join us every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for a weekly walk at Brentwood Library Walking Path with Alive Grief Counselors and other grieving community members to connect with others and the healing that comes with being in nature. Register below.

Good Mourning Group

Join us Wednesdays for this weekly virtual meeting to start your day with support from others who understand what you’re going through. To attend, visit AliveHospice.Zoom.US
