Special Help for Teens
Alive Hospice has a history of providing home hospice care and grief support services in Rutherford and surrounding counties. Among these services is the Alive Teen Retreat, which takes place each October at a lush lakeside camp in Rutherford County. Over the past five years, we have averaged 20 participants at this special weekend.
Even under the best circumstances, being a teenager can be a confusing mix of emotions, physical changes and social challenges. Add the heartache of losing a loved one, and it gets even tougher.
Full of activities that help high school students find inner strength and hope, the Alive Teen Retreat weekend gives them the opportunity to just be teens again in the midst of a difficult family time. Meeting other teenagers who are going through similar situations provides a comforting sense of normalcy and camaraderie. It's a life-changing experience.
