Healing Hearts and Happy Faces

A Look Back at Our Murfreesboro Family Grief Retreat

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for Alive’s recent Family Grief Retreat in Murfreesboro. Held at the welcoming Patterson Park Community Center, the day was filled with shared stories, laughter, heartfelt moments, and a sense of togetherness that only comes from being among others who truly understand.

Families gathered for a day of remembrance, play, creativity, and connection—each activity designed to support healing while honoring the individual grief journeys of children and adults alike. Though the retreat lasted just one day, we hope the friendships and memories made will last a lifetime.

We have so many people to thank for helping make this event so meaningful:

Patterson Park Community Center – Thank you for being a warm and welcoming host for our families.
Fluffed Up, a local artisan candy shop – Your donated cotton candy added just the right amount of sweetness to the day.
Our incredible volunteers – Your time, energy, and compassion made everything possible.
And most of all, the families – Thank you for showing up with open hearts and allowing us to be part of your journey. Your strength and presence made this day truly special.

As we reflect on this meaningful event, we’re already looking ahead to our next Family Retreat at Camp Widjiwagan on Saturday, October 5, (optional overnight stay on October 4 for an additional fee). Registration will open soon! If you or someone you know could benefit from this supportive space, keep an eye out for details on our Family Retreat Page.

Here’s to the hope we carry forward, together. 💙
