December Events: Holiday Traditions and Creative Expression

Join us for these upcoming events!

Virtual Cookie Swap

Every recipe worth its salt (or sugar) has a story behind it. To honor those memories, we’re hosting a Virtual Cookie Swap on 12/2. Come share your treasured recipes, and your stories. The holiday season can be difficult and different when a significant member of our lives can no longer join us in our traditions. Join us for this special event, co-hosted by guest author Amy Lyles Wilson, as we create community and honor those we have loved and lost. Read more on Amy Lyles Wilson here.

Tinsel and Tears “At-Home” Edition

This year, our annual Tinsel and Tears workshop will take on a new format. Alive Hospice families are invited to register to receive materials to create a unique holiday mantle display that will help you weave your loved one’s legacy into your holiday traditions. Each participant will also receive a “Coping with the Holidays” booklet which offers practical tips for navigating the holidays after loss.

The Longest Night Service

Join us on 12/21 for a unique winter solstice service of reflection and remembrance. Open to people of all faith backgrounds, we will explore the “long night” of grief and find hope for what lies ahead. Led by Alive Chaplains and Grief Counselors, this service provides an opportunity to explore loss from a spiritual perspective, memorialize your loved one, and be encouraged by poetry, literature, and music that uplifts the weary heart.

Private Creative Arts Memorial

Have you been looking for a unique way to honor your loved one? We are now holding Private Creative Arts Memorials for groups of 10 or fewer with access to our Creative Room, menu of memorialization projects, supplies, and support from a grief counselor and activity facilitator. Book yours by calling 615-963-4732 or email griefsupport@alivehospice.org.

We hope you can join us for these special events.
