For this year's Memorial Butterfly Release, community members Craig and Josie Tappel (an Alive Nurse Practitioner), Shelby Bailey, and Jennifer Caver have volunteered their time to co-chair. We are so grateful to have their help spreading the word about this special event  and the impact can make for those who have lost a loved one.

Shelby and Jennifer shared with us that they have participated for many years, and each time is a meaningful affirmation of the enduring power of love.

"Toward the end of her life, my grandmother was so unhappy in the hospital. It was challenging to manage her pain and difficult for us to visit her as often as we wished. One of her doctors finally suggested hospice, and we moved her from the hospital into the Alive residence. I remember it as a time of peace and comfort for her, as well as a chance for important, meaningful family time when we visited. We were so grateful for the gift of Alive Hospice to our family during this difficult time." - Shelby Bailey

"My family was lucky enough to have Alive present with my grandfather in his home for the final weeks of his life, and we will be forever grateful for the love and dignity afforded to him during that tender time. Many people do not know about the other services that Alive provides. One that was helpful to me following the death of my son, William, was their grief counseling. My counselor was so kind and knowledgeable and was able to provide resources specific to my situation. This is a type of counseling that is not readily available elsewhere and is so needed!" - Jennifer Caver

By participating in the Butterfly Release, you help support Alive's mission to provide loving care to people with life-threatening illnesses, support to their families, and service to the community in a spirit of enriching lives.
