A Note from Anna-Gene

Learning how to live begins with how we die

Dear Friend,

Alive Hospice was founded by a great group of community leaders and healthcare professionals who came together to change the focus from dying to living at the end of life. Almost 42 years later, I am pleased to share that Alive Hospice continues with a leadership team committed to improving and advancing this sacred space as well.

This publication is just one more example of this commitment. We live in a soundbite world but some topics like end of life and living and grief are so personal and sacred, we wanted to make sure that we aren’t leaving you with just sound bites, rather an opportunity for further exploration into this space. It is real; it is hard. This new publication format is not only aimed to show off and brag about Alive Hospice, your nonprofit, community-based partner, but also to provide you with richer, deeper content from which your own self reflection might occur.

Alive Hospice has a universal mission; everyone experiences loss of loved ones and we all will die ourselves. Please join me in taking a few extra minutes to absorb the richness that the end of life brings, and realize that we shouldn’t wait to be told we are dying to begin to learn how to live.

Best Regards,

Anna-Gene O’Neal, RN, MSN, MBA
