Ethics in Counseling the Bereaved
June 24: 9:15 am - 12:15 pm
A training for mental health professionals to enhance self-awareness and skill around supporting grieving clients in the clinical setting.
It has been said that the next wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is that of grief. In the wake of a season of loss, many bereaved children and adults are seeking the help of a mental health counselor to process their experience and better manage grief symptoms.
Yet, supporting the bereaved can pose significant ethical dilemmas for clinicians. This in-person training will answer many questions including:
- When is professional intervention for grief warranted?
- Do children grieve like adults?
- How does culture and spirituality impact grief?
- What changes to bereavement were included in the DSM-V?
- What is Prolonged Grief Disorder? How do you assess and treat it?
- How do I manage my own grief while still showing up for my clients?
and more!
