Bartons win Lifetime Achievement Award! Congratulations!

Published on May 1, 2014

Before 1975, there was no hospice care in Tennessee. Dr. David and Mrs. Lynn Barton knew the dying and their loved ones weren’t receiving the specialized care and support they needed, and they set out to change this for the better. They brought Alive Hospice into being with the late Dr. John M. Flexner in the early days of the U.S. hospice movement, a time when only two or three such programs existed in the nation.
Because they did, thousands and thousands of Middle Tennesseans have experienced the care this organization provides.
For these reasons, the Nashville Business Journal has named Dr. and Mrs. Barton recipients of its 2014
Health Care Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award! They’ll be honored today, June 6, and we couldn’t be prouder. The end-of-life experience would have been much different for many thousands had it not been for the Bartons, their pioneering vision and their compassion for others. Congratulations!
