Plans to Expand Services in Rutherford and Surrounding Counties Moving Forward

March 2015

Our mission at Alive Hospice is to care for residents of Middle Tennessee at a critical moment in their lives, when heartbreak and healing go hand in hand. To do that, we must be where the need is. We are thrilled that the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency approved in November 2014 our application for a new hospice residential facility in Murfreesboro, and we’re moving ahead with the project.

We started the conversation about building in Murfreesboro more than two years ago and have received an incredible amount of support from members of the Murfreesboro community, who requested we expand our presence south of Nashville. The Murfreesboro facility will allow terminally ill patients to stay close to home and eliminate long commutes for their friends and family members. A Shelbyville resident, for example, visiting his or her loved one in our Nashville facility faces a two-hour and 10-minute round-trip commute. That would be cut almost in half if the patient were being cared for at the new Murfreesboro location.

The new 20,000-plus-square-foot facility, located in the Murfreesboro Gateway in the Parkway Office Park, will have 10 large patient rooms to support lots of family space. The building will have large common areas, including a living room, an open dining room, a children’s play area, possibly a library, and a sanctuary. Alive Hospice will be able to provide care for patients with acute symptom needs, helping them to avoid trips to the hospital; routine hospice care for those choosing to reside at the facility; and short-term respite care — all provided in a dedicated environment for terminally ill families in a peaceful setting focused on living and healing.

The Residence at Alive Hospice-Murfreesboro will belong to the community, and we look forward to gaining the community support that will make it a reality.

Our mission: We provide loving care to people with life-threatening illnesses, support to their families and service to the community in a spirit of enriching lives.
